Where Microsoft OneDrive keeps its logs

Microsoft OneDrive logs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneDrive\logs\ on Windows. 1 other Windows log location is recorded below.

Microsoft OneDrive logs to ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.OneDrive-mac/Data/Library/Application Support/OneDrive/logs/ on macOS. 1 other macOS log location is recorded below.

Paths are printed exactly as Microsoft OneDrive writes them. Environment variables like %LOCALAPPDATA% and $XDG_STATE_HOME are never expanded, so a path can be pasted straight into a shell. Where a path differs between installer types or shipping flavours, each one is racked as its own card below - why that happens.

How to collect Microsoft OneDrive logs

  1. Windows: right-click OneDrive.exe, choose Open file location, then open the folder named after the newest version.
  2. Windows: run CollectSyncLogs.bat from that folder. It saves a OneDriveLogs cab file with logs and registry details to your Desktop.
  3. Windows, by hand: quit OneDrive and zip %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneDrive\logs\.
  4. macOS: quit OneDrive and zip the logs folder listed above for your install type.
  5. The .odl and .odlgz files are binary. Send them to support as they are.
