Where Box Drive keeps its logs

Box Drive logs to ~/Library/Logs/Box/Box/ on macOS.

Paths are printed exactly as Box Drive writes them. Environment variables like %LOCALAPPDATA% and $XDG_STATE_HOME are never expanded, so a path can be pasted straight into a shell. Where a path differs between installer types or shipping flavours, each one is racked as its own card below - why that happens.

How to turn on debug logging for Box Drive

  1. Windows: Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Box\Box, create the REG_SZ value LogLevel and set it to Debug.
  2. Windows: Quit and restart Box Drive.
  3. Windows: Set LogLevel back to Info when you are done.

How to collect Box Drive logs

  1. Reproduce the issue and note the time.
  2. Click the Box icon, then the gear, and choose Help > Send Logs.
  3. Open a support case separately; Send Logs does not create one.
